The Children’s Book on Dementia produced by NGage Strategic Alliance and published by the Lanka Alzheimer’s Foundation was launched at LAF’s Activity Centre on 30th April 2025 with attendance by participating schoolchildren, invitees and the Media. The objectives of the launch and the book was explained by LAF Directors Lakmali Cabral and Beverley Mirando. The cutely illustrated book published in Sinhala, Tamil and English and written for understanding by young children who may come across an elderly person with dementia in their own homes or at a friend’s, featured 10 stories which highlighted experiences they might face with a person with dementia. Stories from the book in the different languages were read by three school children. Explanations were given by Prof. Shehan Williams, Dr. Amodha Medagedara and Dilan Sandaruwan. Project Coordinator Devni Hemasinghe explained the national distribution strategy, and Director Nimal Gunewardena showcased the information laden, visually attractive and easy-to-navigate new website that was launched at the same time designed by Trendzhub, while Director Romany Parakrama handled the continuity of the launch. Books to take back to their schools were handed over by LAF President Prof. Shehan Williams to children and teachers who participated from several schools.
